Published September 23, 2013
Topics JANIS JOPLIN

This is a mash-up documentary about Janis Joplin comprised of interviews, clips, and performances. Super-thorough and in-depth, this "mega-documentary" covers everything from her early years in East Texas to her life in Northern California. Includes interviews with all four members of Big Brother, old man Mr Threadgill, her friends, her siblings, songwriters, her biographers, others who knew her, as well as Janis herself. Performances from Woodstock, Festival Express and the full-length version of "Ball n Chain" at Monterey Pop 1967 (second day). Also included is ten minutes about her famed 1965 Porsche 356c Cabriolet. Also included is her high school reunion press conference. Also included is over fifteen minutes of behind-the-scenes footage on the recording of "Cheap Thrills". All you need to know about the first queen of rock is here. Run time is over 4 hours. (this video file fits snugly on a standard 4.3GB DVD.)

Subject: Awesome mix. But still no uncut version of Ball and chain at Monterey
I was really hoping for a sincere description when stating "full-length version of "Ball n Chain" at Monterey Pop 1967 (second day)".
:(
On another note, I have read all the biographies and have been conducting countless interviews and will not agree on the other statement of "All you need to know about the first queen of rock is here". The real story of Janis still goes far beyond all the recorded footage available to the public. Stating that it doesn't, only limits her legend. Fix your description! Sincerely the Biggest Janis critic of all Anthony Carrillo AKA Anthony Anteater. Very cool mash-up though, just needs a better description. There is still more real Janis to be discovered!!!!!!

It's good you grouped all the footage together, I normally watch multiple documentaries on a subject, so this chronological compilation makes things easier.
